Youth Development Program

The BOS Youth Development Program was established as an avenue to create relationships with local technology high schools and the students that attend in order generate excitement about the integration and automation industry.  It will provide high school students with tangible experience in our industry and a chance to start their career with BOS upon graduation.

It was also developed in support of our company Purpose: BOS will be an engine for developing young people into inspired professionals of character and competence that can benefit themselves as individuals, each other in an innovative workplace, and our society.

Apprenticeship Stream

Successful candidates will have the ability to have apprenticeship papers signed and begin full-time employment within the trade immediately upon graduation of Grade 12.

Eligibility:

    • Currently completing their final year of high school
    • Completion of a manufacturing high school co-op or summer labourer position at BOS

Notification of Interest requirements:

    • Must be submitted to Jenn Morrison via email at [email protected]
    • Subject Line should reference the BOS Youth Development Program
    • Up to date resume to be attached
    • Only notifications from students that meet the eligibility criteria will be accepted

Selection Criteria

The successful candidate will be chosen by a selection committee comprised of BOS Management and will be based on the following:

    • Experience during work period at BOS
    • Past related experience to industry
    • Professional goals
    • Company resource requirements

Important Dates:

    • April 1 – Deadline to submit Notification of Interest
    • June 1 – Successful candidate selected and notified

College Stream

Each year, one successful candidate will be selected to receive the BOS Youth Innovation Award in the amount of $1500 toward tuition in one of the approved post-secondary programs.

Requirements:

  • Enrolled or accepted in one of the following Co-op programs:
    • Fanshawe – Electrical Engineering Technology
    • Fanshawe – Electromechanical Engineering Technology
    • Conestoga – Mechanical Engineering Technology – Robotics & Automation
    • Conestoga – Mechanical Engineering Technology – Design & Analysis
    • Conestoga – Manufacturing Engineering Technology – Welding & Robotics
    • Conestoga – Bachelor of Engineering – Mechanical Systems Engineering
  • Commitment to completing available co-op terms at BOS Innovations

Considerations:

  • Completion of high school co-op and/or previous summer employment at BOS
  • Community/extracurricular involvement
  • Leadership experience & abilities
  • Academic achievement

Optional summer employment will be available

University Stream

  • Partnership with Western University Engineering
  • Each year BOS will:
    • Attend 2 job fairs at Western in September and January
    • Host 2 information sessions to promote company to current students (September and January)
    • Hire 3-4 students for a 16-month internship at BOS in various positions (eg. PLC, Project Management, Mechanical Design, Systems Engineering, etc)
    • Extend Offer(s) of Employment to students completing 16-month internships (based on resource requirements and internship performance)
    • Take part in sponsorship of various events hosted by Western University

BOS Scholarship

Eligibility:

  1. Applicants must be currently completing their final year of high school
  2. Enrolment in, or acceptance to, one of the following approved co-operative education programs:
    • Fanshawe – Electrical Engineering Technology
    • Fanshawe – Electromechanical Engineering Technology
    • Conestoga – Mechanical Engineering Technology – Robotics & Automation
    • Conestoga – Mechanical Engineering Technology – Design & Analysis
    • Conestoga – Manufacturing Engineering Technology – Welding & Robotics
    • Conestoga – Bachelor of Engineering – Mechanical Systems Engineering
  3. Not be in receipt of a full tuition scholarship from any other source
  4. Possess the ability to pay the remaining tuition amount for the program selected
  5. Commitment to completing available co-operative education terms at BOS

Application Procedures

  1. Applications will be available online at https://bosinnovations.ca/careers/youth/ or through your guidance office
  2. Applications, and all supporting documents, must be submitted via the online Application Form or directly to Jenn Morrison according to the instructions found on the PDF Application Form
  3. Applications will be reviewed, the top 3 finalists will be identified and notified
  4. Top 3 finalists will be invited to attend at BOS Innovations with members of the selection committee
  5. Scholarship will be paid directly to the chosen post-secondary facility on behalf of the selected student
